hello all, is anyone trading silver etf's?

if so can anyone explain why slv which is supposed to follow the increase in silver is up approx 200% of the rise in silver? I've seen this a few times before, but it always freaks me out as i dont like not knowing why.

Thanks.

(if this is in the wrong section please move it to the right one)

its because while yes it is supposed to track the price of silver, it still trades similar to a stock> so if a bunch of people start buying it really quickly one day you will see a larger pop in the price of that etf then the actual commodity. Meaning there is high demand for the etf.

The stock market was closed yesterday 2/20. Therefore, the ETF SLV price change is measured against the Friday 2/17 4:00pm est close, ignoring yesterdays POS move.

OTOH, silver was traded as normal in the global commodity markets. Kitco fixed their daily price at 5:15pm est on 2/20 not recognizing the US holiday.

It's not true that the price of SLV varies much from the price of silver. It tracks it pretty much spot on.

I like this response better, i do believe people might push the price up or down a bit from what silver is doing, but a hole percent just blows me away.

me too, was buying when the fear monster was gripping a lot of the membership here. then they ridiculed, now....silence

there are more than a few STILL waiting for the chart to tell them when to buy. they missed the easy money. i'll be selling them my agq paper in the near future. hopefully there will still be a little meat on the bone :o

Recently I had to cash in some of my SLV for some emergency cash since my wife is recovering from surgery and is not working at this time (she should be back to work in the next two weeks). Didn't want to sell any of my physical.:(

I have been trading SLV call options for the last 18 months using my profits to stack physical silver and gold.

Been holding AGQ for a few weeks and will hold for a few months if the plan holds. I would like to see $90 by May 1 or 200 by 6/1:D
