Default Anyone want some junk platinum?

Im a silver guy, and am fairly active on that forum. However, I'm a newb when it comes to platinum. My buddy's mother-in-law to be gave him an old (not in a good way) platinum wedding band to sell to help supplement the cost of the ring he's buying.

What's a fair price for junk platinum? Spot? Is there a buy/sell section for platinum (don't see it)?

Thanks,
C_

I don't think I would use the term "junk" in the same sentance as Platinum, however spot is way too generous, I would say 70-80% is fair.

When something is most likely going to be melted down, I'd say "junk" is a fair term in the precious metal community.

I can get 80% from kitco...not going to waste my time on the "private" market if that's the case...

"scrap" is a more accurate term for pm's destined to be melted.

"junk" pretty much just refers to 90% silver coins.
