Default Newbie Question: Where is the best place to store physical gold?

I just began investing in small amounts of gold & silver. Because I am new at this I have no idea where to store it. I've heard of services that will store in in their vaults, but I hate having to trust others with $$. I've also considered safety deposit box's, burying it & hiding it. In your opinion, what is the best way / place to store physical metals?
Thanks, PS this is my first posting on K*tco.

Bury it in a plastic container in the dark and several feet deep and tell no one...

I dont think you have to be paranoid about owning small amount of PM's for now. If your stack get's larger then you can get a secur box at your local bank.

Hide in plain site. Get a can diversion safe (i.e. can of soup) and put it with the rest of the canned goods. Home invation robbers don't steal Cambells Tomato soup.

If it is gold when you bury it you do not have to worry about corrosion if it is silver it must be airtight. Only bury a decent quantity at a time because every time you go back to your stash you run the risk of being seen. A good cheap container would be s-40 pastic sewer pipe cut to size and seald permanetly with its adhesive and endcaps. If your very worried about water you can place one sealed pipe within another. Good luck on your growing true investment and welcome to the forums...
