Default Threads getting marked 'read' en masse

when i'm finished reviewing a forum, i will use the 'mark this forum' read feature. then, next morning i can review the new activity by looking for the bold topics.

while i'm reading through the forums throughout the day, however, a lot of threads that i haven't read yet will lose their bold title/get marked read. however, a few threads at the top are still left bold (unread).

it seems something is inadvertently marking threads read....

In the bar at the top of the page is a link that says "New Posts". That will give you a list of all posts updated since your last visit. Funny things can happen depending on just how the system computes your last visit.
